Seniors and Reverse Adolescence

For example, seniors sometimes become difficult or demanding, a sign of their struggle to maintain independence in the face of physical disabilities. They may get snippy or lash out as they struggle to deal with chronic pain and illness. When taking care of elderly parents who are dying, there can be a similarly unexpected response, which fitness trainer and author Margo Rose calls Reverse Adolescence.

To help you understand the phenomenon of difficult, stand-offish behavior that can manifest itself in seniors and others who are actively dying, Margo shares insight in the podcast below.

Came across this same podcast back in 2011, 5 years has passed and it still transcends a relevant point about getting older. It is totally challenging to deal with aging persons but we have to claim in ourselves a daily dose of understanding so relationship can remain smooth and strong. Thanks for sharing.

It can be challenging to identify and understand some of the complex emotional issues that come with aging. A key part of being able to respond in love is that step of identification and understanding. We love what Margo has to say and were thrilled she shared it with our readers as well! Thank you for stopping by.

Thanks you so much for listening to this podcast and letting me know it was beneficial to you!

The idea I call, Reverse Adolescence can refer to any circumstance when more distance is needed before a big separation. Romances, jobs, pets or people with health problems maybe being unpleasant before a big goodbye could make that ‘big goodbye’ less sad.

I’m starting a new Body Aware Grieving with Margo Rose podcast this month! Let me know on Twitter, Facebook or by email if you want to be notified when my first podcast goes up!
My contact information is in the bio at the bottom of this article.
    Best wishes to you,
    Margo Rose?
